The Technical Writing team manages the technical product content of VGT. This position is part of a team that delivers quality content in full and on time – whether it’s a regulatory-required user manual or a logo description. We focus on high achievement, fast pace, and collaboration.
The Technical Writer II’s role is to have a strong understanding of how to develop written information and documentation about the organization’s processes, products, tool sets, templates, specifications, requirements, etc. Outputs include a range of informative, procedural, and technical documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel across all departments and for product certification. The Technical Writer II will mentor other Technical Writers in VGT’s style and format.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, design, research, write, and edit a range of documents, including user guides, policies, and manuals; development specifications and templates; technical specifications; training materials; and proposals for both print and online media.
Edit written documentation of development and other creative and technical staff to create unified and consistent support documents.
Ensure timely delivery of documentation in an Agile product lifecycle.
Ensure consistent document formatting within assigned department at VGT while acting as a point of contact for all technical publication issues.
Liaise with Directors, Managers, Product Owners, and end users to identify and define processes, procedures, requirements, and specifications to establish documentation needs for game development and deployment; hardware, software, and related systems and processes.
Mentor other technical writers in learning VGT’s style and format needs.
Provide leadership and training within all disciplines of documentation.
Evaluate metrics and create appropriate deadlines.
Collaborate with development staff to collect and interpret technical information.
Ensure final documents are usable and of high quality.
Research, evaluate, and recommend new documentation tools and methods in support of documentation improvement efforts.
Establish, communicate, and maintain documentation standards and provide training where required.

Bachelor’s degree in the field of English, Communications, or Journalism, or equivalent experience.
A background working with technology.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a writer or documentation specialist.
Experience in managing a documentation project from beginning to completion, including the areas of information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles.
Extensive experience with publication software, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suites, and flow charting software
Strong understanding of document structuring, content communications, and presentation techniques
Must have a portfolio of work and/or writing samples (published desirable)
