Reporting to the Assistant Director of Media and Technology, Teaching and Learning Lab (TLL), the Senior Learning Technologist leads the discovery, exploration, prototyping, piloting, evaluating, and reporting of emerging and established technologies and platforms. In collaboration with learning designers and media producers, s/he serves as technical expert for supported platforms via deep understanding of affordances and limitations of various configurations and an evolving insight into the learner's experience. The position will also contribute to the development of online learning experiences for projects across the TLL portfolio, focusing on achieving uniform design and efficient processes.
Help develop online courses including demonstrations, videos, simulations and assessments.
Create and/or modify visual design graphics used for course layouts.
Design course layouts and pages with focus on usability and ease of use.
Support the design and development of blended courses and webinars
Help develop standards of functionality, effectiveness, and visual design in online courses
Learning Technologies and Innovation
Under the guidance and within the vision of the Assistant Director of Media and Technology, oversee the lifecycle of new teaching and learning platforms, tools, and technologies — including discovery, exploration, piloting, and implementation.
Assume a human-centered design approach that focuses on user experience, iterative development, and rigorous assessment.
Balance competing demands inherent in innovation to facilitate purposeful experimentation and ensure deliverability.
Champion innovative practices that enable the team to quickly produce, continuously improve, effectively collaborate, and rigorously assess.
Translate design-based principles into actionable paradigms and support team members in integrating these practices throughout the TLL portfolio.
Serve as technical expert for supported platforms by establishing comprehensive knowledge of tool functionality, deep understanding of affordances and limitations of various configurations, and an evolving insight into the learner's experience.
In collaboration with learning designers, promote and facilitate the effective and sustainable use of technology in residential and online contexts.
Work directly with faculty to manage projects related to the exploration or targeted implementation of technology-supported teaching enhancements.
Research, Documentation, and Analytics
Assess and evaluate new technologies; establishing pilot programs as needed
Continually monitor developments and innovations related to effective and innovative use of technology within higher education and related markets.
Conduct targeted market scans of technology solutions when project-based or faculty initiated needs arise.
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and ongoing market developments in innovative online teaching platforms, tools, and environments.
Identify, develop, and assess documentation and best practices to improve and enhance the work of the team.
Manages content for TLL website.

Master's degree, preferably in Education or related field
Minimum of five years relevant experience
Familiarity with modern learning management systems (Canvas preferred)
Solid technical background with demonstrated experience in web and learning technologies
Experience working in a higher education environment
Ability to work additional hours during peak times.
