Human Interfaces is looking for candidates trained in HF to assist in usability testing of technology software and products, medical devices and medical software. We are located in the hills of Austin Texas and support two world-class usability research labs. Our team is small but talented, creative and collaborative. We are looking for additional team players to help us define and design healthcare products for our clients that not only satisfy the end-user but that are also safe and effective.
A Master’s degree (or higher) is required in human factors engineering, human/computer interaction, human factors psychology, or a very closely related field such as applied psychology or industrial and systems engineering. Degrees in related fields such as biomedical engineering will be considered with significant experience in human factors or usability work. The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ experience post advanced degree. Direct experience in usability testing and evaluation of medical devices, knowledge of FDA requirements is strongly preferred.
Consulting requires a special breed. We are looking for someone confident, who carries themselves as an “expert” and is not afraid to participate and learn. Strong work ethic and initiative are not optional, they are required. Our pace is fast and we offer a wide variety of project exposure requiring a vast array of research methodologies.
Responsibilities include tasks that impact the design and evaluation of hardware, software and web interfaces. The individual will work closely with clients to develop solutions for improved usability and user satisfaction through research, user-centered design and testing. Skills for the job include the use of UI standards and guidelines, developing prototypes, conducting usability tests, analyzing, interpreting and applying data into usable design solutions and documentation of such. Since we often deal with new technologies in our work, it would be helpful to have someone that is passionate about computers, servers, tablets, smart phones, wireless technologies, touch interfaces, software, etc. Yes, we are nerdy and proud of it.
