A successful Digital Creative Director will not only design compelling user experiences, but be responsible for collaboratively leading a team of developers, content specialists, and web designer to create effective experiences that give users what they really need.
Over the past 3+ years, we’ve been working to bring our portfolio up to a standard level of quality that follows university brand standards. We are mostly there and now, through the leadership of a new Digital Creative Director, we want to evolve our portfolio to serve our audiences in the most effective and compelling way possible.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead visual/interaction design definition, direction, and execution for our portfolio of web projects. Provide skilled, knowledgeable and persuasive leadership to project-based teams and mentor other designers.
Create, present and deliver user flows, wireframes, prototypes and mockups, in order to effectively communicate to stakeholders the envisioned interaction, user experience, and design ideas for digital projects produced by the Office of Public Affairs.
Optimize user experiences through research, testing, and staying up to date on best practices.
Create documentation and resources (templates, UI kits, etc.) that empower others to implement and extend design systems.
Perform other tasks as requested.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Five or more years of creating interactive design experiences for websites, web applications, or software, which leverage emergent technologies, consumer electronics and/or mobile devices
Experience developing prototypes, wireframes, and user flows that effectively communicate design principles and user interface interaction
Experience leading a diverse team of web professionals
A strong portfolio that demonstrates a deep understanding of interactive web design
Graduate degree in web design, interactive design or similar field
Three or more years experience in a digital/web/interactive creative director position
Fluent in responsive design, mobile/table UI/UX
Proficient with user interface design patterns and standard User Centered Design methodologies
Expert knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and associated tools
Able to create wireframes as well as visual design comps in a fast-paced, iterative design process
Strong conceptualization ability, visual communication ability and drawing skills
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and people skills
