Serves as Director of Web Design Services. Provides management of the web design team. Serves as lead for all creative/design aspects of developing and implementing web sites and strategies in collaboration with teammates in University Relations to advance the top strategic priorities of the University and to strengthen the brand. Uses the web CMS to create both static and dynamic web pages and serves as lead UI Designer. Collaborates with marketing, creative and tech team members to strategize the optimal layout to convey messages via web interfaces. Establishes the visual layout for templates and custom digital solutions taking into account the primary devices and screen sizes. Creates and manages web style guides to ensure consistent implementation of code, behavior of visual elements and brand conformity. Performs other duties as assigned.
40% - Essential - Web Management: Leads development and implementation of a plan to deliver an interactive multi-media experience on the web for university audiences. Uses judgment and knowledge of web trends to provide relevant information, quality assurance, and critical functionality to target audiences, and provide timely and on-going training and development to content publishers, keeping the University's web presence fresh and dynamic.
40% - Essential - Creative Content Management: Serves as the creative lead responsible for delivering Clemson University's brand online. Creates high-level public content, organization and structure of the University website and serves as the university's primary web design strategist. Evaluates the web and higher education environment to promote and maintain an integrated state-of-the-art web presence. Creates wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas. Executes all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to developers.
10% - Essential - Leadership & Collaboration: Plays a leadership role on campus, in partnership with colleagues within University Relations and across the campus, in developing, implementing, and managing web communication strategies as part of a university-wide communication program to support University Relations' and Clemson's strategic institutional and marketing goals. Serves on University committees and task force requiring creative/brand representation for web and digital initiatives. Works collaboratively in an open team environment with other members of University Relations, including marketing, strategic communications, technology infrastructure/integration and client relations.
10% - Essential - Strategic Planning: Performs short/long-term planning. Develops and implements concepts, policies and standards for the operation of the top-level Web-site, within overall goals and parameters established by senior management of the organization. Designs consistent methodologies for the development of Web sites within existing architecture. Provides ongoing evaluation of Web site software and hardware to ensure continue and future effectiveness and efficiency of the Web site.
A bachelor's degree in communications, computer science, or a related field. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis..
