Open Rank Professor of Sustainability Planning and Urban Informatics
The School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University seeks nominations and applications from leading scholars for an open rank position in relevant areas of sustainability planning and urban informatics to begin in Fall 2018.
The successful candidate will have a distinguished scholarly record and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and leadership in one or more of the following areas: urban geography, comparative urban economics, urban development, resilience and policy, urban sociology and community studies, sustainable architecture and urban planning, landscape design and policy, health and urban sustainability, and cultural and visual design. We especially encourage candidates with skills in geographic information systems, spatial analysis and modeling, system dynamics, data mining, and/or machine learning. Cross-departmental appointments within the College of Social Sciences and Humanities or another college are possible.
The successful candidate will support the University's commitment to innovation in teaching as well as the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs' (https://www.northeastern.edu/cssh/policyschool/) mission to inform theory and practice through integration of research, education and engagement that advance scientific knowledge and ethical conduct in the interest of current and future generations. The school houses eight Masters, five certificate and a PhD program.
Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education.
A PhD or its equivalent is required.
