<p>Position Overview:<br />Liberal Arts Technologies and Innovation Services (LATIS) provides liberal arts-specific expertise, facilities, and technology services to support the innovative work of the CLA community. We further the college’s mission by partnering with faculty, staff, and students to enhance learning, advance research and creative work, and improve processes.<br /><br />The work environment in LATIS is dynamic, creative, and collaborative. Teamwork is core to how we operate and get things done. Within this environment, it is important to have strong communication skills, be comfortable with ambiguity, and be flexible during times of change. We encourage and foster creative thinking and new ideas.<br /><br />The Educational Technologies Consultant will serve as an expert and consultant to design and develop innovative teaching, online learning in a variety of formats including programs, online courses, hybrid courses, and technology-based class assignments. The consultant will partner with CLA faculty to utilize technology effectively for teaching and learning in both online and in-person environments. The consultant will also contribute to projects and initiatives in the interest of improving educational technology and more important, contribute to the College of Liberal Arts mission.<br /><br />We seek someone who will complement and reinforce the strengths of our team. Current areas of expertise include: online and hybrid course design, visual design, digital mapping, digital storytelling, media in teaching and learning, web mapping, and digital literacy curriculum development. Other areas of interest include learning analytics and data visualization.<br /><br />Duties/Responsibilities<br />Depending on qualifications and team workload.<br /><br />Educational Technologies Consultations (30%)<br />Provide consultations on selecting or developing technologies for teaching and learning<br />Assist instructors with questions about our campus learning management systems, and advocate for improvements and bug fixes<br />Explore emerging technologies with instructors and other LATIS staff (current examples include virtual reality, 3D modeling and visualization and 3D printing, embedded devices and Internet of Things)<br />Collaborate with TEL team and partners on outreach to the college and assess or clarify needs of faculty and supporting staff<br />Assist in the development and use of evaluation methods to determine quality of outcomes.<br /><br />Learning management system support and needs analysis (30%)<br />As part of a team, work with departments, instructors and staff to ensure a smooth transition from Moodle to Canvas<br />Provide support for Moodle and Canvas in the context of instructional design, teaching with technology<br />Evaluate features, tools in LMS in order to recommend improvements and innovation<br /><br />Community building around emerging technologies (25%)<br />Facilitate working groups with a focus on emerging technologies<br />Lead student workers in technology exploration, and developing skills and resources<br />instructional technology<br /><br />Institutional Collaboration (10%)<br />Serve on committees internal and external to the College focused on academic technology<br />Cultivate partnerships with academic technology initiatives and resources within and outside the College<br /> <br />Personal Professional Development (5%)<br />Develop/maintain expertise within designated areas of responsibility, including educational research and trends that apply to academic technology, teaching and learning</p>
