Advertised Summary Job Description: The Webinar Specialist will execute and support highly interactive web conference events in Adobe Connect Professional for a growing suite of rigorous academic courses offered online across a variety of disciplines and audiences at the School of Professional Studies. The Webinar Specialist will work directly with faculty members, Course Developers and Educational Technologists to define the content, visual and interactive experience of the web conference events. S/he will facilitate planned team activities in the execution of virtual events and provide first-tier technical support for users' desktop, audio and video environments. The Webinar Specialist plays a critical role in continuous improvement and faculty development. S/he will create participant activity reports, identify elements of best practice and areas of improvement, and inspire faculty to adopt innovative tactics that optimize virtual team-building activities in the web conference events. Note: This position requires evening hours on weekdays and some weekend hours.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Manage the delivery of our online virtual webinar sessions. a. Manage the administrative back end of select web conferencing technologies, including: account creation and management, customization and tracking. b. Schedule and attend all assigned live sessions.
2. Provide instructional and technical support to faculty as they plan and execute virtual webinar sessions to support instruction and teamwork. a. Work with SPS team to conceptualize and execute faculty training. b. Work with course developer to guide faculty in the creation of storyboards for live events. c. Work with course developer and educational technologist to guide faculty in the conceptualization and creation of the visual experience of the live event. d. Help faculty identify and execute engagement strategies for their live web conferences. Provide tactical tips for the use of web conference interaction tools including: polling, status checks, backchannel chat, voice and video sharing, breakout rooms, etc. e. Review the execution of each live event with faculty member, identifying bet practice tactics and areas for improvement.
3. Provide technical support to faculty, students and guest speakers during virtual webinar sessions. a. Via in-conference chat and telephone, support webinar participants during live events. b. Support student and faculty use of audio and video devices and desktop computing environments such that they are optimized for web conferencing. c. Identify, track and report technical problems. d. Communicate effective solutions to common technical problems in FAQs and web-based user tutorials.
4. Establish and provide web-based and real-time training for all users on how to use the web conferencing technologies. a. Work with SPS team to design and create web-based user tutorials. b. Schedule and conduct one-on-one and group training c. Identify and create resources that assist faculty in using the technologies
5. Support continuous improvement. a. Generate analytics and participation reports on faculty and student use of the tools. b. Participate in ongoing normative assessment activities. c. Participate in external knowledge communities on web conferencing and virtual teams. d. other duties as assigned
General Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience required. - A minimum of two years of related experience required. - Demonstrated evidence of professional experience managing virtual teams, or working as a webinar producer, desktop support specialist, instructional designer or educational technologist in higher ed contexts.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: - Experience managing and/or working on virtual teams. - A solid and current understanding of video conference technologies and/or webinar technologies, including Adobe Connect, Cisco WebEx, GoToMeeting, Skype, Google + Hangouts, etc. - A willingness to experiment with emerging technologies to enable virtual teams. - A solid understanding of desktop computing environments - A customer-service orientation aimed at helping users optimize their use of audio and video in web conferencing technologies. - Strong organizational and management abilities, creative problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence others. - Ability to manage multiple projects on a cross-functional team and deliver results under prescribed deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications: - Visual design experience, working with Adobe Creative Suite. - Publishing and/or materials writing experience. - Experience as an instructor in higher ed or corporate environments. - A solid and current understanding of web analytics.
