Eze Software Group (Eze Software) is seeking an Associate Director to join the Technical Communications Team in its Boston office. We are looking for an extremely self-motivated, independent, and personable people-manager to join a dynamic team of technical writers in our Boston office responsible for producing and maintaining an expansive library of product documentation and product learning content. The successful candidate must be able to learn, adapt flexibly, and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while quickly understanding and effectively communicating complex technical concepts to multiple audiences.
Lead a small team of technical writers documenting various Eze products as part of a larger technical communications team.
Coach and mentor less senior team members in writing clear, concise, accurate deliverables that help our clients learn, as well as in technical areas and soft skills.
Perform editorial reviews of team’s work before it’s made available internally or to clients.
Determine the appropriate scope and schedule for documentation projects while adapting flexibly to unexpected changes and effectively prioritizing multiple tasks.
Triage, respond to, and plan delivery of documentation requests in coordination with the team.
Set clear expectations and help to create a positive work environment based on a shared set of values.
Help to build, evangelize, adapt, and communicate team roadmap.
Drive improvements and new initiatives based on internal and customer feedback, financial and tech comm industry trends, etc.
Research complex, unfamiliar technical concepts using multiple sources in order to develop, write, and deliver high-quality end-user product documentation resources that meet the shifting demands and deadlines of a rapid software release schedule.
Collaborate with members of cross-functional and agile teams to gather product information and develop documentation resources such as release notes, help files, knowledge bases, quick-start guides, installation guides, Wikis, and implementation guides.
Bachelor’s degree required.
College degree, minor, or relevant coursework in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Design, or User Experience a plus.
6-10 years of professional writing experience. 1-2 years of management experience.
Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills required, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical and financial concepts to multiple audiences, the ability to adapt flexibly to unexpected project scope and/or deadline changes, and the ability to independently research, gather, and synthesize information in an ambiguous or unstructured environment.
Superior time management, organization, research, analytical, and critical thinking, and investigative skills preferred.
Highly self-motivated, independent, confident, personable, assertive, resourceful, and creative.
Solid understanding of computer software development, programming, and/or applications.
Familiarity with bug tracking, source control, and content management systems.
Solid understanding of HTML, XML, and CSS a plus, including the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Experience using authoring tools (such as MadCap Flare or Adobe RoboHelp), SharePoint, and Adobe PhotoShop.
Experience working in an agile environment.
