To support the NCBRT mission, the Curriculum Development Section Manager has responsibility for the design and editing of all documents, manuscripts, manuals, texts, and related course/project materials used by the NCBRT in accomplishing its mission. The number and depth of the many projects assigned to the Section results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. In addition, the section provides writing and editing support to proposal development and a variety of technical assistance projects.
Manage and provide advisement to the Assistant Manager and Coordinators (Curriculum Specialists) within the Curriculum Development Section.
Management of processes necessary to accomplish tasks and projects undertaken by the R&D Division and Curriculum Development Section. This includes, but is not limited to operational procedures, NCBRT style guides, and ensuring course materials are compliant with grant terms and conditions such as compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Provide technical assistance to development teams, Curriculum Development staff on those teams, and NCBRT staff. This includes technical writing, technical editing, graphic design, and instructional design as needed.
Travel to and/or participation in focus groups, development meetings, walkthroughs, pilots, and classes for course development purposes.
Advise, inform, and assist the R&D Associate Director and Assistant Director regarding projects, tasks, and proposed improvements.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communication, or other writing intensive discipline and five years technical writing and editing or instructional systems design (ISD) experience; three years of experience supervising writers, editors, or ISD; proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree; Experience working under constraints of federal homeland security grant programs. Experience managing multiple projects/assignments with successful outcomes. Experience working in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Experience working in Camtasia Studio. Working knowledge of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Special Qualifications: Must be able to travel overnight and during the week usually for periods of 3-5 days (actual time away may be more or less than this estimate). An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check. Must meet the University’s minimum qualifications to operate a motor vehicle while conducting LSU business. Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident as required by the Department of Homeland Security.
