The Assistant Director, Digital Communications and User Experience is responsible for developing and implementing NU-Q’s digital vision and evolving its online platforms. This position oversees web operations – content, design, and technology -- through day-to-day management, and manages the work of web content producers, contributors, and external vendors. Creates content and designs webpages both independently and in collaboration with stakeholders and/or consultants.
Lead the digital strategy, vision, and evolution of NU-Q’s ecosystem of online services; conceptualize and deliver new platforms and online experiences; identify/explore areas of expansion for NU-Q online/digital platforms
Manage online user experience across multiple channels, ensuring ease of use and brand cohesion; compile and analyze user insights by tracking/reporting information about web usage/traffic; optimize content for search engine performance
Manage digital projects; collaborate with stakeholders throughout the development and maintenance of online platforms;
Design digital page layouts; edit images and graphics for web use; manage interface design on online platforms; maintain design cohesion across all online marketing platforms; Design, maintain, and continually improve NU-Q’s suite of web design templates and HTML email templates; design and maintain information architecture on NU-Q websites
Write and/or edit content for online platforms in accordance with NU-Q editorial guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned
Five to seven years of experience
A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Previous experience managing corporate websites and using web content management systems
Excellent communication skills with strong visual design sense and editorial acumen
Strong understanding of user experience design principles, web application architecture, responsive design, and web design templating
Previous experience developing digital content in a variety of formats: video, email, social, web
Solid web writing and editing skills
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop)
Presentation and project management skills
Solid understanding of SEO and Google Analytics
Fluent English, and basic knowledge of Arabic characters/language formatting
