The Office of Information Technology is seeking a Multimedia Systems and Project Specialist. Reporting to the IT Manager of Multimedia, the Multimedia Systems and Projects Specialist provides audio visual design and integration planning, and project management oversight of audio visual projects at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Extensive knowledge of audio visual design, equipment, integration, operations, and maintenance in a higher education setting is required.
The Multimedia Systems and Project Specialist works in collaboration with the Multimedia team to develop plans for venue upgrades, researches, and evaluates technology for future enhancements as it relates to annual capital and operational planning.
The successful candidate has strong communication skills, is well organized, attentive to detail, and focused on meeting project deadlines. The candidate will join a team of motivated, proactive, team players focused on providing an excellent customer service experience for staff, faculty, and other clientele.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Project Coordination Support (75%)
Leads in the development of writing scope and RFP documentation for both capital and operational Multimedia projects.
Participates in the evaluation of vendor proposals and makes recommendations to leadership.
Acts as point of contact for vendor work and assisting in the coordination of secondary services essential to vendor on-site work, such as product delivery, security, credentials, vendor work hours of operation, storage requirements, etc.
Has familiarity with A/V standards, evolving technologies, and applicable codes.
Understands general knowledge of AV system design and configuration and its scalability to our internal buildout efforts.
Understands CAD and its implementation to A/V flow, and has the ability to read and understand CAD-generated documents as it applies to A/V design.
Assists with the configuration and maintenance of enterprise A/V control systems in both a single and multi-room environment.
Develops on-going vendor relationships with local and regional A/V contractors, design teams, and project managers. Ensures deadlines and all final project specifications are met before project closure.
Participates in professional development opportunities, remaining current with industry standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Multimedia Classroom and Event Technology Support (25%)
Serves as point of contact for all scheduling and programming of Video Wall content.
Contributes to evaluation and multimedia production of live School special events. Provides on-site and on-call troubleshooting of technical problem solving for these events.
Contributes to the development of and updates to internal support documentation and client help documentation.
Participates in the development of cyclical equipment refresh and maintenance plans. Oversees execution of these plans, ensuring completion with scheduled maintenance windows.
Conducts venue evaluations and recommends equipment replacement or upgrades as necessary as part of future planning.
Performs testing and quality assurance on presentation computer systems, A/V systems and virtual conferencing software.
Actively keeps abreast of A/V technologies and practices in use outside of the School.
Applies professional business/technical support concepts to provide support, consultation, and training for clients based on established departmental guidelines. Prioritizes and manages multiple tasks and deadlines with supervision. Properly escalates issues to leadership and other teams, and works to resolve more complex problems with supervisory guidance.
Provides audio-visual and collaborative technologies support to clients, responding to telephone calls, emails, and personal requests for technical support as needed and in a backup role.

Internal and External contacts required as part of the job:
Interacts with executives, senior administrative staff, technical and engineering staff, as well as other faculty, staff, and students.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an audiovisual / multimedia / communications track required. Three years in-depth experience in multimedia, distribution systems, satellite communications, distance learning, electronic security, web-based applications, networks, principles of Internet, web casting and streaming media.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Related Work Experience:
Minimum of three years related AV experience working in an educational environment.
Minimum of three years of Design and Integration service experience.
Minimum of three years of leading AV projects (upgrades, refresh and new implementation).
One year of experience with AV live event support.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Works independently and in team setting.
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have working and operational knowledge of all A/V equipment commonly used for presentation support, including consumer and professional electronics. Includes but is not limited to:
Computers (Windows and Mac operating systems)
Video Wall technology
General knowledge of video studio layout and functionality
TVs, monitors, DVD & Blu-ray players
Digital audio recorders and mixing consoles
Projectors, data projectors
Video and web cameras
SMART technologies / platforms
Web casting technologies
Demonstrated knowledge of general A/V installation techniques.
Strong computer troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of computer networks. Familiarity with both Windows and Apple operating systems (Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10, onward; Apple OS X and onward).
Highly knowledgeable about video conferencing systems and other related virtual conferencing software (e.g., Zoom, Skype, Adobe Connect, etc.).
Excellent interpersonal skills to support work with both technical and nontechnical personnel at all levels throughout the organization.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required, especially the ability to listen and understand what is being described, with attention to detail in transcribing requirements.
Ability to work calmly under pressure during special events.
Must be punctual.
Must have strong organizational skills.
Must be proactive and meet assigned deadlines.

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) preferred.
