Our client, a cyber-security software company that specializes in helping organizations protect against targeted attacks, is seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Senior Technical Writer.
OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Develop and write technical developer guides, user guides, release notes, technical notices and PowerPoint presentations for complex threat mitigation products.
Manage complex, ongoing projects including estimating the work, defining project plans, managing timelines and priorities, collaborating with business partners, and communicating project status.
Create appropriate original copy consistent with professional, effective technical writing and edit sophisticated materials appropriate to a specific purpose, audience, and delivery method.
Develop materials independently through all stages of the writing process including performing needs analyses, defining solutions, collecting content, designing materials, developing supporting media, and identifying delivery methods.
Design templates for different materials following effective technical communication strategies.
Interact with and interview Subject Matter Experts and developers to gather data and information.
Receive and incorporate frequent feedback from stakeholders.
Review existing documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality.
Follow existing documentation guidelines and styles.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communication or technical field.
Proven ability to write and edit technical documents (writing samples required).
Minimum 5 years of experience in similar documentation roles in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Experienced with reading and analyzing highly technical materials and creating presentations of that information including user manuals, presentations, reports, or training documents.
Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, self-assign work, and function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written skills with ability to brief various audiences on status of projects, as needed.
Strong interpersonal skills to negotiate and work with stakeholders.
Intermediate to advanced skill using the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud and MadCap Flare applications
DESIRED SKILL SETS:
Understanding of cyber security terminology and practices;
Industry experience in Cyber Security or Intelligence Community preferred.
The writer will interact with people in Virginia and Central Europe so will need to be in EST or GMT time zone.
This contract will be of 3 to 6 months duration.
