The Digital Content Strategist is a versatile team member who excels in developing content strategies for web sites, social media, and various forms of digital media. This position will work with departments and programs across campus to create informative, user-intuitive, and accessible websites that uphold Elon University branding standards. The strategist will also work on various teams across the department to integrate content strategy and user experience (UX) design strategies into projects such as new applications, instructional modules, digital signs, and videos. As a member of the Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) team, the strategist will work with instructional technologists, video producers, and multimedia specialists to help brainstorm and develop innovative technology solutions to address a variety of academic and administrative needs. Additionally, the position will manage the Office of Information Technology (IT) social media channels as well as a group of students with complimentary specialties such as writing, graphic design, marketing, and UX.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Visual Design, Communications, Computer Science or related field.
Special Skills Or Experience:
Proven ability to lead web design/redesign projects, serving as the overall project strategist. Must have a deep understanding of digital content strategy, specifically focused on UX design, information architecture, and accessibility
Proven design sensibility to envision how content should be effectively presented or distributed for the most optimal user experience throughout a variety of media including, but not limited to, websites, social media, digital signs, and print materials
Strong fluency in social media platforms, trends, and engagement strategies
Ability to create visuals and visual layouts for websites and other media (e.g., print, social media, digital signs, etc.)
Strong idea generator and problem solver with organizational skills; must excel in project planning, delivery, and communication with clients (such as faculty, staff and students)
Excellent professional communication skills both verbal and written
Strong working knowledge of prototyping and related design tools
Strong proficiency and experience with Google Analytics (or similar web analytics tools), SEO strategies, social media, and accessibility standards
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and visual editors (e.g., Adobe Photoshop)
Proficiency with the WordPress platform

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist departments and programs with creating or redesigning their websites using the WordPress platform and provide ongoing training and support
Guide faculty and staff in structuring web content so that it is user intuitive, accessible, search engine optimization (SEO) friendly, and meets communication goals, in addition to upholding Elon University's branding standards
Work with a cross-functional team to manage the IT website; ensure that content is easy to find and consistently updated, accurate, and relevant
Assist the Enterprise Solutions team to integrate effective user experience (UX)/user interface (UI) design principles, and Elon University branding standards in applications developed or managed by IT
Work with other TLT team members to bring content strategy and UX design principles to instructional modules, videos, and digital signage across campus; assist with visual layouts
Assist with strategic marketing and communication efforts for Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) and IT; evaluate and report on web and social media analytics to determine effectiveness
Manage IT's social media channels including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
Work with the Assistant Director of TLT to maintain a content calendar; solicit input from divisions across IT for relevant topics and content
Ensure a consistent voice across the web and social media platforms
Recruit and supervise student staff; provide guidance on day-to-day tasks and ensure students adhere to Elon's professional standards
Conduct research into current and emerging web technologies and UX/UI trends and techniques
Work on various assigned committees to develop and enhance web, video, and technology offerings for strategic departmental and university initiatives
