Starlite is seeking to hire a full-time Audio Visual Design Engineer with a history of designing multifaceted audio visual and control systems.
Starlite’s rapidly expanding Systems Integration group offers full-scale solutions including audio, video, lighting, rigging, control systems and managed services to our clients. We work on lots of cool projects, including performing arts centers, casinos, retail and themed environments, higher-education, corporate boardrooms, houses-of-worship, museums, and more.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and support of installed systems in a variety of customer environments, and will participate in projects at all stages, in collaboration with a supportive team.
Specifically, you will be responsible throughout the lifecycle of the project, for:
Providing conceptual designs for audio visual and lighting solutions and conduct equipment research on new and existing technology for client applications.
Developing system designs that meet customer’s functional expectations and budgetary requirements, which may include working directly with clients, architects, consultants and staff throughout the design, development and delivery process.
Reviewing pre-construction design and documentation, providing assistance with technical design, take-offs, and pricing for proposals as needed. Site surveys as needed
Generating submittals and close out documentation.
Define functional requirements for control systems programmer.
Supporting the team by providing leadership on complex audio and video systems and providing implementation and commissioning of AV systems from inception to completion.
Coordinating the requirements, integration, and installation of A/V control system programs.
Generating functional and connection-level drawings (including video, audio, networking, control and schematics, communications systems.
Generating Bill of Materials (BOM)
Finding ways to contribute to the department’s overall objectives and goals.
Providing engineering support during the installation phase by supporting the on-site installation efforts of the team as well as troubleshooting and debugging as needed.
Creating job cost estimates for bids if required and continue to review and approve Systems Descriptions.
Providing technical response to the customer RFP/RF/RFI. Provide pre/post sales design, interface with clients and visit job sites to document customer requirements and job site conditions.
Other duties as required or assigned by management.
Knowledge / Skills/Ability
Up to date knowledge and familiarity with commercial audio visual and control equipment and general understanding of network topology
Reinforce manufacturer relationship with continuing education and industry certifications. Manufacturer certifications from Crestron, Biamp, Extron, Harman, Cisco and others are a plus.
Ability to work independently in situations that are fast-paced, meeting deadlines as necessary
Maintain a high-level of personal expertise in current and future technology by completing training programs from manufacturers, industry associations, and the company as required.
Responsible for making decisions and exercising prudent judgment with minimal guidance.
Must be punctual, able to meet deadlines, detail oriented and possess superb organizational skills. Additionally, the ideal candidate should express good communication/people skills and above all have a positive attitude.
Responsible for always maintaining a professional attitude and delivering excellent customer service.
Strong working knowledge of Signal flow and control systems
Proficiency with test and calibration equipment
Ability to test integrated system and train client on use; develop and write customer operation manuals as needed
Must possess a valid driver's license and have no adverse driving history
Education / Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a technical subject, or equivalent and related work experience.
Proficiency in the use of diagrammatic software tools (such as AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, etc.)
Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, and hand and finger dexterity
Ability to move distances within and between warehouses/offices
Driving, pushing/pulling and ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
Complex reading and writing, basic math skills required
Most work is performed Monday thru Friday from 9-5 with the potential for some evening and weekend work if necessary. Occasional overnight travel is possible.
Regularly works with others and has both face-to-face and verbal contact with clients and other vendors. But can work alone at times. Generally, works in an office environment with moderate noise.
Nature of work can require intermittent, unusual hours, travel and time spent out of the office.
