Overview This position will be responsible for the design and development of a massive central data platform comprised of microservices that enable the delivery of immutable, end of day data to consumers downstream using Hadoop technologies. It will be a hands-on development role where responsibilities will include design and development using Hadoop technologies, and Java in fast paced environment using agile methodology. Responsibilities: •Actively involved in designing the solution •Develop, enhance and maintain the solution •Collaborate with users and technical team in London •Perform technical analysis to present pros and cons of various solutions to problems •Analyze business requirements and research and recommend technology components
Technical Skills: •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent •Previous relevant software development experience •Hands-on Big Data experience in developing enterprise level applications using Hadoop, Big Data, Map Reduce & NoSQL solutions •Experience in Apache Spark, with in depth knowledge of streaming and integration API’s •HBase / Hdfs / Flume / Hive / Impala / Oozie •Experienced server side Java Development including multi-threading •Elastic Search & SolrCloud •Maven, Gradle, RESTful, Spring, Coherence would also be useful but not essential •Excellent problem solving skills in a distributed, multi-technology ecosystem •Knowledge of HTML5, AngularJS and Visual design is a plus but not essential •Knowledge of Scala, Python or R would be useful but not essential Other Attributes: •Quantitative, analytical, confident, articulate, enthusiastic and able to operate independently •Very strong written and oral communication skills to wide ranging audiences from offshore developers to traders •Agile Experience working in Scrum Teams
