The University of Connecticut (UConn), Analytics and Information Management Solutions (AIMS) group (http://aims.uconn.edu) is seeking to hire a Data Analytics Lead (UCP 11) to provide support on our Health IT initiatives, leading the efforts related to dashboard creation, visualization design, and coordination with clinical resources. This position will be based at the downtown Hartford campus.
UConn AIMS, working with the State of CT’s Office of Health Strategy (OHS), is leading the design, development, and implementation of the Core Data Analytics Solution (CDAS), which will leverage leading-edge technologies to curate, process, and enhance large amounts of healthcare data to fuel the analytics to support state-wide healthcare initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Drive BI and data analytic processes and technology improvement initiatives.
Consult with internal/external customers to develop analyses and gain a better understanding on how the user is interpreting data and information; research actionable insights that increase patient outcomes; prepare requirements for supporting this usage and define the appropriate venue for the distribution of information; work with development to test and implement information solutions.
Pull data from multiple sources including claims, enrollment, clinical notes (unstructured), data lake, and patient/provider databases to create interactive dashboards that can be used to drive decision making.
Responsible for collaborating with the business analysts to develop business requirements and translating requirements into a technical solution.
Develop and maintain advanced reporting, analytics, dashboards and other BI solutions using Tableau.
Responsible for identifying and communicating design and scope issues to the stakeholders.
Conduct design reviews and oversee QA functions for the information delivery applications, including ensuring that system and integration test plans are developed and executed.
May supervise, assign and monitor work of full-time staff.Provides direction to team members.
Work with BI tool vendors in coordination with the technical team to report and resolve specific application issues.
Generate routine and ad-hoc reports; ensure data integrity.
Communicate information via reports or other technical/non-technical documentation to the internal and external users as needed.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and five (5) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in data development, and data analytics.
At least four (4) years of experience, including one or more technical or management positions, which demonstrates the ability to independently and successfully lead complex technical projects.
Two (2)+ years of background developing data visualization solutions using software such as Tableau, to create dashboards, standard reports, and ad-hoc reports.
Two (2)+ years of experience using BI tools such as Tableau, Superset, Power BI, Zeppelin, Qlik.
Experience working with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Netezza, Teradata).
Familiar with Data Visualization best practices.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with excellent presentation skills.
Understanding of various healthcare formats and reference data sets, such as, HL7, claims, eCQMs, drug/pharmacy, clinical notes, lab results.
Experience working with multiple disparate data sources in Tableau.
Experience with advanced Tableau topics such as complex calculations, table calculations, parameters, geographic mapping, dynamic filtering, and performance optimization.
Predictive analytics using machine-learning and AI platforms.
Strong experience writing complex SQL.
Experience implementing Data Visualization solutions using Hadoop.
Experience in healthcare industry.
Understanding of advanced data modeling techniques.
This is a full-time, grant-funded position that is subject to annual renewal depending on available funding and job performance. The typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Salary will be commensurate on the successful candidate’s background and experience. Work location is at the Hartford campus.
