The Communication Project Manager leads the strategy, production, planning and evaluation of the marketing and communication efforts of the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Local Media, highlighting and amplifying the work of our faculty members and our initiatives.
Specific areas of responsibility include researching and writing content for various channels including a monthly newsletter, blog posts, FAQs, and white papers; management of social media efforts; website ownership (posting content, maintenance, low-level development, and managing third-party developers); planning and distribution of promotional materials for workshops, conferences, and symposia; managing media relations, outreach, and tracking stories and articles; photography, videography, audio production, A/V post production, and graphic design support for communications and events.
The ideal candidate will be able to synthesize the Center's various research agendas into on-brand messaging and be comfortable delivering that messaging as the first point of contact for national and international media outlets.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Excellent writing and story development skills, including the ability to copy edit the work of others. Working knowledge of AP style. Strong research and interviewing skills. Expertise with a variety of social media platforms with knowledge of best practices related to each. Ability to set and adhere to deadlines, prioritize tasks, and adapt to last minute changes. Ability to work independently as well as on a team, comfortable working with all levels of the organization. Experience managing WordPress websites (publishing, site maintenance, SEO) Demonstrated creativity, visual design sense, strategic thinking and attention to detail.
Proficient in graphic design and layout, both print and digital. Proficient in website development. Proficient in audio and video editing.
