As a member of the UI design team, in collaboration with other University Marketing disciplines and campus units, the Junior UI Designer combines the understanding of business needs, product requirements and the direction of the UI Art Director and transforms that understanding into user-focused and intuitive products, interfaces and platforms for mobile and the web. The Junior UI Designer combines visual aesthetics, interaction design best practices and leverages usability research to enhance Ohio State University's brand image.
Focused on scalable, inspiring and seamless digital solutions, this position plays a key role in the creation of digital experiences within an ever-evolving digital space; Has demonstrable knowledge of UI design deliverables (i.e. visual design mockups, graphical assets, design implementation guidelines), working knowledge of UX principles; Is well-versed and able to collaborate across a variety of marketing disciplines to create and execute inter-dependent digital strategies.
Reporting to the Associate Art Director of UI/Digital Design, the ideal candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, a proactive work style and comfort navigating in ambiguous environments; the ability to independently self-manage time and efforts across projects and competing priorities; reflect strong communication and social skills both internally and externally and will exhibit the behaviors associated with the Office of Advancement's core competencies: Leadership, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Communication/Interpersonal Effectiveness.

Candidates must submit a creative portfolio or link to portfolio that demonstrates a fundamental understanding of UI design principles to be considered.
Bachelor's degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications), HCI related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; two years design experience in a professional environment; experience in creating static user interface layouts that adhere to a responsive grid structure; working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, web design and digital best practices.
Target Salary: $57,000.00 - $67,000.00 Annually
