The Ball State University Foundation Communications team seeks an experienced director of visual design who is strategic, collaborative, highly creative, and capable of producing original designs for a full range of communications projects to support the engagement and fundraising operations of the Foundation.

Position Function: The Assistant Director of Digital Media and Design conceptualizes and creates communications assets to support the goals and strategies of Ball State University Foundation. As a member of the Communications team, this professional works collaboratively with staff in all Foundation departments to create high-quality design solutions to inspire engagement and philanthropy among alumni, friends, volunteers, students, faculty/staff, parents, and constituents.
Ball State University is located in Muncie, Indiana, approximately 45 miles northeast of Indianapolis. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of graphic design, digital media, or related field.
Three years of related professional experience.
Proven track record in creation and operational innovation.
Proficient conceptualization and illustration skills.
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite.
Superb knowledge of graphic design including typography, spatial orientation, image manipulation, and basic design elements.
Experience working with printers and extensive knowledge of paper, substrates, and preparing files for print
Ability to think creatively, strategically and critically in order to balance Foundation goals with user needs.
Manage multiple projects and workflows in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Build effective partnerships and working relationships with internal teams and clients.
Ability to develop new design concepts, graphics, and layouts.
Work independently and exercise professional judgment.
Take initiative and manage projects.
Innovate and receive constructive criticism.
Candidates must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications: Advanced degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. More than five years of related work experience within higher education. Photography and videography skills; Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JAVA.
