We're looking for: Invention, imagination, originality and talent while working within a team to create amazing graphic and user interfaces for university websites and online media.
If you visualize digital works through the user's eyes; take well-designed concepts and create smart, beautiful , accessible websites and digital communications; and create simple and intuitive interfaces while effectively communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale – this is the job for you.
The primary function of this role is providing design, layout and structure for content on websites and emails. Examples include mst.edu, academic and administrative department sites, mass emails, etc. You are required to provide a strong online/digital portfolio featuring web and other digital interfaces.
1-3 years in web and user interface/user experience design (UI/UX)
Exceptional, clean visual and user-focused design skills
An eye for detail and experience designing simple and intuitive user interfaces.
Proficiency in design and wireframe tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
An understanding of PHP and content management systems: what they do and how they affect web.
Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Digital Communication, Visual Design, Interactive Design, Web Design, Graphic Design, Instructional Technology, Technical Communication or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and ability can be acquired is necessary.
A strong online/digital portfolio featuring web and other digital interfaces.
The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds
Demonstrated experience with and enthusiasm for emerging online technologies
Excellent written, oral and diagrammatic communication skills.
Experience using vector graphics a plus.
A willingness to push the envelope while maintaining the integrity of the university's brand.
Experience with social media, video, print and photography skills are a plus.
Some knowledge of A/B testing and a strong desire to validate design assumptions through qualitative and quantitative testing.
The drive to continually learn about our university, users and industry while keeping up with the latest in web trends, design and technology.
Higher education experience is a plus.
A keen sense of humor is indispensable.
