Identifies, recommends, creates, and maintains corporate policy, business, system user, Customer, and Agent content. Researches and writes highly diverse and complex content. Translates complicated information into clear and concise content appropriate for target audiences. Assists with legal, compliance, disaster recovery, business continuity, and other business goals and requirements by documenting policies, procedures, system user instructions, and other corporate content, and overseeing the documentation throughout its life cycle. Participates on project teams and contributes to overall project delivery. Leads and mentors other writers on projects.
Candidates with below minimum qualifications may be considered for a Technical Writing Specialist II or I. Number of years and scope of experience will determine level.

Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates expertise in eliciting documentation requirements by interviewing subject matter experts, typical users, and project team staff. Identifies new and better methods for obtaining information to be used in creating or updating content. Researches subject matter to perform in existing information. Provides effective feedback mechanisms and monitors/responds accordingly. Creates documentation schedules and writes the Documentation Plan for high-complexity projects.
Works with stakeholders throughout the organizations to identify, analyze recommend, create, and maintain a wide variety of content. Uses industry standard methodologies to develop high-quality content.
Continually enhances expertise in current and emerging industry best practices such as minimalism, structured authoring, DITA, Agile, topic-based authoring, and audience analysis. Maintains expertise in writing software tools. Determines and publishes content in appropriate media for delivery.
Reviews, critiques, and edits work of other writers during document quality reviews and mentoring sessions with less experienced writers. Identifies scores based on a set list of industry-wide criteria for quality documentation. Tests the documentation developed against established goals to verify accuracy and quality.
Manages high-complexity documentation projects including estimating, planning, developing, testing, implementing, and evaluating deliverables. Monitors task progress, project impacts and risks, and reports project status to management and project managers. Provides estimates for high-complexity projects. Mentors other writers on estimate development.
Acts as a subject matter expert and mentors others in business process and systems analysis modeling techniques, tools and standards. Works with other writers of all levels to mentor them on writing skills. Leads less experienced writers on large projects.
Perform in-depth research and analysis, whether for assigned projects, issue resolution, current trends, or discipline advancement. Provides research recommendations and interprets relevant data.
Offers suggestions for process improvements. Leads teams in identifying, developing, and implementing internal process improvements and section standards, processes, and technology. Contributes to the continuous improvement of the information model. Contributes to a long-term vision, helps to plan and develop long-term strategies.
May be asked to perform editor tasks including leading the documentation quality review process, maintaining a strong knowledge of documentation quality standards, mentoring others on those standards to improve overall document quality in the section, and promoting to production all documents with a passing document quality score.

Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, technical writing or a related field, or related work experience, required. Five years of experience in writing, or related experience, required. In-depth knowledge of business process analysis, design, and modeling required. In-depth knowledge of elicitation techniques and project management concepts required. Experience conducting audience analysis and usability studies required. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and diagramming software required. Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Professional, Markup Languages, Authoring Systems, DITA, and structured authoring required. Completion of or willingness to obtain General Insurance Certificate required. The position will require the incumbent to work extra hours during peak periods.
