The Manager, AV Design & Support is partof the Vanderbilt University Information Technology team at VanderbiltUniversity. This position is a key manager responsible for providing leadershipfor the AV Design & Support Team bydirecting staff to meet operational goals, implementing policies andprocedures, and overseeing day to day operations. TheManager, AV Design & Support handles the most complex requests andincidents and escalates to the Associate Director, AV Design & Support andMedia Services when appropriate and performs personnel administrationfunctions. Reporting directly to the Associate Director, AV Design &Support and Media Services, the Manager, AV Design & Support interacts withstaff, end users, and university stakeholders.
This specific role directs the operations ofVUIT AV team including policy development, complex problem resolution, stafftraining, and ensuring correct resources and staffing are being leveraged tosatisfy customer needs. The position ensures that the highest levels ofcustomer service are being demonstrated by the team at all times, and regularlymeets with customers to garner feedback and adjust where necessary. The Manager assists in ongoing systemlifecycle and refresh implementations to support the pedagogical andadministrative needs of the university and assists with advancedtroubleshooting of AV systems and must have familiarity of modern AV solutions,including but not limited to Crestron solutions, Zoom/Skype for Business andother conferencing solutions, audio reinforcement design and operation, andlive event management.

Duties and responsibilities
Oversees the day to day operationsof the team, handling issues escalated from staff.
Operates as contributor and jumpsin to handle individual requests or incidents directly as required.
Communicates goals to the team andmeasures progress.
Implements policies and procedures,deploys technologies, and oversees vendor engagements.
Assist with Team Oversight and Management
Thinks critically with AssociateDirector for AV Design and Support and other leadership and customers to selecttechnologies and develop future lines of service or modifications to existingservices.
Collects, analyzes and sharesoperational data and metrics.
Submits and arranges travel andtime off for assigned staff.
Communicates policies andprocedures, including updates or changes.
Ensures compliance with thedepartmental processes and procedures.
This position does have supervisoryresponsibility; the position reports administratively and functionally to the AssociateDirector of Audio Visual Design and Media Services.
Profile ofan Ideal Candidate
ABachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education isnecessary.
Relevanttechnical certification(s) is highly preferred.
Atleast three years of directly related experience is necessary.
Atleast five years of experience in higher education is highly preferred.
Literacyin latest AV and classroom technologies is necessary.
Abilityto develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures is preferred.
Stronginterpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively witha wide range of constituencies in a diverse community is preferred.
Abilityto supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, andscheduling work assignments is preferred.
Skillin the use of personal computers and related software applications ispreferred.
Skillin organizing resources and establishing priorities is preferred.
Skillin examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy,and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures is preferred.
Abilityto analyze new media technology and to identify and/or develop new applicationsis preferred.
