We're looking for an exceptionally cross-talented user experience / interaction designer (UX/UI designer) to help define and create simple, intuitive, high-quality user experiences for a suite of web applications covering a broad range of business processes. The selected candidate will use skills as a seasoned user experience designer with a full understanding of industry practices and organization policies and procedures to complete a wide range of assignments. The UX/UI designer is a professional resource answering customer questions and guiding decisions about usability and user interaction, as well as validating solutions through testing. The UX/UI designer quickly turns abstract requirements and use case documentation into concrete design specifications (i.e., workflow diagrams, UX wireframes, and style guidelines), converts UX design into pixel-perfect visual design, and then works with back-end programmers to build front-end implementations using HTML/CSS best practices for standards compliance and web accessibility. The candidate will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and will work on projects that typically impact a single website, system or department. The ideal candidate is a strong UX/UI designer who is interested in supporting the University of California's mission of teaching, research, and public service.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with agile development practices and principles, since s/he would also serve as the Product Owner for many of the web applications. The candidate will work closely with UCOP departments to gather user stories, understand requirements, identify due dates, and prioritize product backlogs for the application suite.
