Minnesota State Colleges and Universities is seeking a Senior Application Developer to maintain and support existing enterprise web applications used by students and employees in campus student services offices. The successful candidate will participate in the development and maintenance of responsive web applications using Java/Java EE/Spring/Grails technologies and frameworks. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Software Development: Develop administrative and public-facing computer software so that the needs of Minnesota State business users and customers are met, is free of defects, clearly documented and maintainable, and is completed within established project timelines.
Software Analysis & Design: With limited technical direction, perform analysis and design of application components so that the scope of a work effort is understood, impact and risks are identified and the solution that best meets the business requirements in a cost-effective way is chosen.

3 years of experience designing and developing web applications using object oriented languages such as Java or C# (.Net) and structured query language (SQL) for relational databases.
Experience with web application user interface design, including information architecture and visual design sufficient to design, build and support applications that align with user requirements and internal standards.
Experience with web application design and development sufficient to design, build and support complex enterprise applications, to include aspects such as:
Open-source JavaEE frameworks, such as JBoss, Spring, Hibernate, Eclipse
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
Source control management systems (SVN, Git, CVS, AccuRev)
A bachelor's degree in information technologies
Experience working on JAVA / Grails applications
Experience with Oracle databases
Experience creating tag libraries in Java or Groovy / Grails
Experience working in an Agile development environment
Experience applying UI frameworks like Bootstrap or jQuery to existing applications
Experience with software testing tools and methodologies, such as unit testing, test-driven development, and user acceptance tests.
Experience with technical implementation of Federal, state, agency, and industry accessibility standards and guidelines
Experience with statutes and policies regarding data privacy and practices
Experience with web browsers/clients, in particular their various capabilities and shortcomings, to ensure that web applications function in a broad array of client environments

With its 31 institutions, including 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is the largest single provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota. The colleges and universities operate 54 campuses in 47 Minnesota communities and serve about 250,000 students in credit-based courses. Overall, the system produces about 33,500 graduates each year. In addition to credit-based courses, the system offers customized training programs that serve about 153,200 employees from 6,000 Minnesota businesses each year. The law creating the system was passed by the Minnesota Legislature in 1991 and went into effect July 1, 1995.
