About the Department
The Department of Design curriculum spans several aspects of graphic design, including theory and formal principles of 2D and 3D design, conventional and digital printing and finishing, motion, video, interaction design and design history. We average 130 declared undergraduate majors and graduates between 48–54 students. Each year, we contribute two courses to the Humanities portion of the general university requirements. In addition to classroom/studios, the facilities include two Mac labs, and a production lab with Canon and Ricoh large format and production grade printers, Vandercook letterpresses, screen printing facilities, a production grade laser cutter as well as mechanical binding equipment.
About the Position
The Department of Design invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Design beginning September 2020. The department consists of 7 tenured and tenure-track faculty, a dedicated instructional technician, program manager, and administrative services manager. We are seeking a well-rounded designer and educator to complement and expand the curriculum with expertise in one or more of the following areas of design: experiential /environmental, typography, visual design and interaction design (user experience, web, motion graphics). Candidates should be qualified to teach through- out the curriculum as well as contribute to the evolution of our program. MFA, MDes, or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited college or university
