Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking a skilled front-end web developer/designer to work with the web and digital communications team in External Affairs.
The focus of the position is to provide web development and design for Teachers College’s institutional website, www.TC.edu, and affiliated center, lab and event sites as well as to provide content updates and to develop responsive email templates as needed. The position supports needs of constituents across the College, and the ideal candidate will be passionate about creating a helpful, informative and positive digital experience for our prospective students, current students, staff, faculty, alumni and donors.
We're looking for someone who can help us enhance the quality of our websites through the application of solid design, development and UX fundamentals that are built on a foundation of industry best-practices and design trends.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of all phases of the design process: research, strategic planning, content development, information architecture, visual design, front-end development, testing, and refinement. The individual uses data and best practices to clearly articulate the best way to leverage the web to meet client goals. She/he is dedicated to continuous learning.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Use HTML and CSS to create standards compliant, accessible, and responsive web pages to connect college objectives to design solutions.
Perform regular updates to websites to maintain the integrity of content and ensure that content is timely.
Contribute to the planning and implementation of new web features and services.
Direct, implement and evaluate all web content ensuring consistency with TC's overall brand.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve development processes and workflow.
Associate's degree in a related area, Bachelor's degree preferred.
A demonstrated understanding of design fundamentals such as: color, composition, and type.
Experience working with Google Analytics.
Experience designing graphic assets with Photoshop, Illustrator, or other relevant software.
Search Engine Optimization and digital communications/marketing skills a plus
