About the Opportunity: The Associate Creative Director in Northeastern's College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) has primary responsibility for the design, production and adaptation of visual elements and communications for both internal and external communications, for integrated use in print, on the web, and in social media. She/he is a member of a high energy creative team, working in collaboration with administrators and faculty in a dynamic and growing College that is driving innovation across and between creative disciplines. This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications.
Responsibilities: The Associate Creative Director will take an active role in the concept and implementation of creative content serving a myriad of audience segments. Working within the parameters of the University's brand standards, she/he will be responsible for establishing and helping to manage and evolve a brand aesthetic for the College. She/he will be responsible for producing visual communications for the College, including creating designs and layouts for brochures, sheets, logos, presentations, wayfinding and marketing materials for the College, as well as helping to identify areas of design need.
Must have exceptional print and digital graphic skills including experience with information design, conceptual thinking, and current trends in communications/visual storytelling/graphic design. Talent for translating highly complex information into clear and concise graphics, as well as developing and adapting diagrams and figures, and data for various forms of public communication. Strong ability to communicate complex ideas to both academic and non-academic audiences through design. Demonstrate solid conceptual, visualization, and communication skills during all phases of creative development from inception to launch. Superior interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in visual design/arts, communications or related field
4-6 years of experience in graphic design role, with particular experience in: data visualization, graphic arts and production; both print and digital media experience preferred
Detailed knowledge of fundamental design principles and disciplines including typography, color, composition and form; knowledge of data visualization and information design strongly preferred
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite programs, specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; experience in WordPress a plus
Experience in designing and developing large-scale branding campaigns, especially in University contexts
Proven ability to create effective design solutions and to see projects through from initial design development to completion
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
