The Teaching and Learning Lab (TLL), is a mission-driven organization that prioritizes a diverse, inclusive culture and work life balance. This position will support efforts at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) to focus on continuous improvement and innovation in professional education. This effort requires leadership in the discovery and development of digital learning assets, and learning technology related work, across modalities. In collaboration with other team members, this role will be a key member in reimagining the learner experience. We are looking for someone who takes a human-centered design approach to solution-finding, enjoys the opportunity to dig deep into a complex, long-term digital learning project, and cares deeply about the learner experience. This role serves as a technical expert on supported platforms, and contributes to the development of online learning experiences focusing on user experience, accessibility, and creative approaches to using technology in support of pedagogical goals.
Collaborate with other team members in the development and launch of online courses and digital learning assets.
Create and/or modify visual design graphics used for course layouts.
Design course layouts and pages with focus on user experience and accessibility.
Collaborate in the development of work-flow processes and style guides.
Learning Technologies and Innovation
Lead the discovery process and support of new teaching and learning platforms, tools, and technologies.
Assume a design approach that focuses on user experience, iterative development, and assessment.
Champion innovative practices that enable the team to quickly produce, continuously improve, effectively collaborate, and assess outcomes.
Translate design-based principles into actionable paradigms and support team members in integrating these practices throughout the TLL portfolio.
Support platforms by establishing comprehensive knowledge of tool functionality, deep understanding of affordances and limitations of various configurations, and an evolving insight into the learner's experience.
In collaboration with learning designers, promote and facilitate the effective and sustainable use of technology in residential and online contexts.
Partner with faculty on projects related to the exploration or targeted implementation of technology-supported teaching enhancements.
Lead and manage relationships with external vendors including creating and managing budgets and scope of work.
Research, Documentation, and Analytics
Work both independently, and in collaboration with other team members, in the development of proposals and functional prototypes.
Work both independently, and in collaboration with other team members, in the assessment, evaluation and piloting of new technologies.
Continually monitor developments and innovations related to effective and innovative use of technology within higher education and related markets.
Conduct targeted market scans of technology solutions when project-based or faculty-initiated needs arise.
Maintain knowledge of industry trends and ongoing market developments in innovative online teaching platforms, tools, and environments.
Identify, develop, and assess documentation and best practices to improve and enhance the work of the team.
Manage content for TLL website.
May supervise staff, student workers and/or interns

Union: 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary
Bachelor's Degree and minimum of five year's experience in instructional technology and/or design
Demonstrated technical experience developing, deploying and supporting courses in current learning management systems (edX and Canvas preferred)
Demonstrated experience with learning analytics and evaluation.
Demonstrated experience with productivity and project management tools.
Knowledge of and experience applying UDL and UI/UX principals in the development of digital learning assets.
Ability to balance competing demands and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and transfer knowledge to others in formal and informal contexts
Master's degree in Education or a related field
Experience working in a higher education environment
Demonstrated experience with Data Science tools (such as Rstudio and Jupyter Notebooks) or a desire to learn.
Familiarity with quality assurance tracking and reporting processes
Ability to plan and meet deadlines
Demonstrated understanding of educational technology trends, issues, and innovations.
Demonstrated organizational, oral and written communication competencies.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within work group and across departments
Manage vendor contracts and relationships
