DynaMed is a leading online evidence-based point-of-care medical reference. It is a rapidly growing, comprehensive clinical decision resource that provides the most current and useful synthesized evidence with the quickest time-to-answer.
DynaMed is seeking a Technical Editor with a background in Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA)-based XML authoring to provide high-throughput technical editing support for medical writers and editors. The ideal candidate will have strong technical editing skills, experience editing and validating XML, and experience with writing semantically structured content featuring DITA markup and metadata.
Primary Responsibilities:
Edit XML content authored by internal and external medical/clinical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), applying DITA-based XML markup according to the current content model
Assist with content validation and prepublication support (running validations and test transformations, and addressing identified issues or escalating them)
Provide publication troubleshooting support with regards to content errors
Collaborate with the content engineering team on planning and implementing new content features
Collaborate with content engineering and technology development teams to design and test authoring environment improvements
Demonstrate user focus, attention to detail, and adherence to DITA and style standard methodologies
Identify and implement process improvements for the team
Implement content reuse effectively
Infrequent (< 10%) travel
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (may be substituted by experience for the right candidate)
Experience working with DITA and an XML authoring system (specifically the oXygen XML Editor)
Experience working within a structured content authoring process
Experience applying and validating metadata according to designated standards
Experience participating in cross-functional Agile development teams
Ability to troubleshoot technical errors in the authoring environment and to assist other users
