University Communications and Marketing is seeking a highly collaborative Executive Director of Creative Services to lead a team of graphic designers, photographers and videographers, and Web staff. The Executive Director will drive the creative vision and direct execution for WCU's visual identity with responsibility for the overall quality of creative work. This role combines managerial responsibility while contributing to big ideas and hands-on creative work. The Executive Director will collaborate with cross-disciplinary team members and University stakeholders to create impactful brand experiences and a scalable design system across all University assets.
10+ years' experience in visual design, publication design, interaction design, information architecture or other related disciplines
Ability to solve complex interactions and demonstrate a high level of critical thinking skills
Strong understanding of industry trends and creative tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite
Well versed in Design Thinking principles and cross-platform design trends
A comprehensive portfolio that demonstrates intuitive and compelling designs
Familiarity with the UX design process and artifacts (personas, journey maps, wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, site maps, etc.)
Design-related degree from an accredited institution preferred
Self-starter with a track record of delivering quality work under deadlines
Extraordinary attention to details and craftsmanship
Natural collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills
A Master’s Degree
Experience working in higher education or within similarly complex organizations.
