RESEARCH SPECIALIST , Political Science-MIT Governance Lab (MIT GOV/LAB) , to support the day-to-day research activities of the lab. MIT GOV/LAB is a group of political scientists focusing on innovation in citizen engagement and government responsiveness. Will support a faculty principal investigator in developing, planning, and executing an integrated design process for governance solutions, including project cycles, timelines, and work plans; conduct, synthesize, and present research on users, existing products, and technologies to understand partner needs, develop recommendations, and define execution plans; identify and assemble project teams; plan workshops, modules, and design sessions; identify and work with in-country partners to evaluate and guide opportunities and product design; lead the creation of organizational design strategy and establish visual design guidelines; and perform other duties as necessary to support lab activities. Supervision will be provided by the faculty director of MIT GOV/LAB.
REQUIRED : a bachelor's degree; at least four years' professional experience; excellent written, oral, and visual communication and presentation skills; flexibility; initiative; and the ability to work both as part of a team and as an independent researcher. PREFERRED : a master's degree; experience in governance, international development, design, and/or political behavior research; and a demonstrated interest in and experience with practitioner-oriented research, particularly MIT GOV/LAB's model of engaged scholarship (rigorous research that is co-created by practitioners and grounded in local problems).
