This position coordinates key marketing and communications. Key functions include responsibility for the development and ongoing content maintenance of the of websites, development of internal communications to faculty, staff, residents/ fellows, and students, including drafting and editing of communications for management and leadership, along with other functions like drafting, editing, and posting news and announcements, development of the Newsletter, and coordination of all OE email and newsletter distribution lists.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Department websites and social media accounts: Develops, manages and updates website content using content management system (WordPress) and manages social media presence. Maintains events, bios and news on family of websites ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date. Ensures consistent look and feel by promoting uniform messaging, formatting, imagery and design. Works with Medical Public Affairs to enhance websites and rectify problems with new and established tools. Understands and synthesizes mission- and business-based goals, interpretation of Google Analytics and other marketing analytics, and translates these data into tactical digital implementations. Serves as media best-practices subject matter expert, creates, plans, and implements web, social, and print based strategic marketing plans and campaigns in collaboration with leadership and Medical Public Affairs to recruit, retain, and inform faculty, staff, residents/ fellows, and students in support of the vision, missions, and programs.
2. Publications: Writes, produces, edits, and consults on digital and print communication materials, such as brochures, handouts, newsletters, recruitment campaigns etc. for internal and external use. Owns, contributes to, and executes on content pieces and strategy development spanning a variety electronic mediums such as; email, newsletter, content marketing, social media, and video campaigns. Optimizes and edits written content from other creators to increase user engagement and ensure messaging is consistent across missions and effectively targeted and communicated to our� community of faculty, staff, residents/ fellows and students including prospective students, residents/ fellows, and faculty.� Works in collaboration with Leadership, faculty, staff, students and Medical Public Affairs to ensure brand and message alignment.
3. Department news: Writes, edits, and collects news through external and internal sources, internal interviews, and by working with faculty, staff, residents/ fellows, students, and Medical Public Affairs. Posts news items to platforms as appropriate.
4. Other duties: Maintains all distribution lists. Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree, plus one year of experience with the development of content for digital communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be proficient at working within content management systems.
At least three years of professional experience with writing, editing content for digital communications; experience working through the entire lifespan (inception through site launch) of projects creating or redesigning websites; experience working with a variety of websites that encompass multiple target audiences and business goals; direct experience with integrated digital marketing strategies, including the use of social media, to achieve communication goals; prior experience in a digital marketing environment dedicated to academic medicine or higher education; basic understanding of the marketing conversion funnel is highly desirable; basic familiarity with photo editing and graphic design tools such as PhotoShop and InDesign and knowledge of effective visual design & branding, strong familiarity with web design and other supporting tools such as WordPress and MailChimp, and knowledge of social media and its integration into digital marketing strategies strongly preferred.

Experience with writing and editing user-friendly content for websites and marketing materials, particularly those focused on the sciences or healthcare.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Canvas preferred).
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities, deadlines and deliverables simultaneously.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including distribution list creation and maintenance.
Knowledge of and appreciation for brand management best practices and the ability to employ them with regard the Washington University School of Medicine brand.
Ability to effectively create strong relationships with colleagues across the university and leverage internal and external resources.
Ability to work independently and also to be a cooperative and effective team member.
The hiring range for this position is $47,986 - $61,194 annually.
