The College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) seeks qualified applicants for the position of Senior Instructional Designer to provide instructional design support to CEAS faculty and staff designing and teaching courses in online programs.
This position will be responsible for assisting faculty and staff with all aspects of course design, including planning, assessment development, media creation, accessibility remediation, and quality assurance. Additionally, this role will provide technology guidance and support, particularly with media and web conferencing tools. Other duties include designing and implementing faculty training, overseeing continuous improvement initiatives, creating documentation on best practices and making this documentation available to faculty.
Master's degree with one (1) year of experience; -OR- Bachelor's with three (3) years of experience
Experience must be in online/blended course design, curriculum development, faculty or staff development/training, or other related area
Must be proficient in various educational technologies used in the instructional design process, such as the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Kaltura, WebEx, Zoom, and Articulate authoring applications
Additional Qualifications Considered:
Master's degree in relevant field with course work in curriculum design, educational technology, or online learning
Experience in a university setting in instructional design or related technical field
Experience designing and implementing faculty or staff professional development
Proficient in applying quality assurance standards for online learning, including Quality Matters
Experience with recording and editing video, using tools such as Adobe Premiere
Experience creating media and/or interactive e-learning projects
Experience building in and providing technical support for LMS environments, preferably Canvas
Experience in providing web conferencing technical training and support
Experience with assisting faculty with course design and/or activities that fulfill Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles
Proficient in file accessibility remediation, particularly with Word, PowerPoint, and PDFs
Previous teaching or training experience in online, face-to-face, and/or blended formats
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Excellent customer service skills when assisting with needs analyses and technical difficulties
Experience managing or mentoring staff in instructional design or related technical field
Knowledge and application of learning theories, including Backward Design
Knowledge and application of visual design principles
