The Senior Medical and Scientific Animator/Illustrator will be responsible for accurately communicating complex medical and scientific concepts to multiple audiences in a highly interactive and engaging format. Under the direction of the Director of Creative Media and working with other members of the HMX online learning team, you will bring world-class visual design sensibilities and expertise in information organization, visual communication, and storytelling to produce a broad range of visual media including biomedical illustration, 2D animation, interactive educational media, and graphic design. You will ensure HMX brand consistency and graphic identity across all work including curricular content and marketing materials, delivering an array of best-in-class visual products in multiple modalities.

HMX description HMX is an educational initiative at Harvard Medical School dedicated to creating fully online courses on foundational and advanced topics in medicine. These courses are led by Harvard Medical School faculty, working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of experts in visual communication, assessment, and the science of learning. The instruction is based on principles derived from educational research to improve learning and retention and relies on best practices in scientific visualization.
This Staff role may start as a remote position due to the COVID-19 pandemic and while the Massachusetts COVID-19 state of emergency restrictions are still in place. The current remote nature of this role is considered temporary and may change as the University continues to evaluate options. While we continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 guidelines, local on-campus work may be expected for some roles. Harvard Medical School does support flexible schedules, subject to individual departments' business needs.
