Stanford GSB's Teaching and Learning Hub is looking for a full-time Graphic and Web Designer. Working under direction from the Associate Director, Visual Design Group, this role will participate in creating teaching and research materials for faculty at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Candidates must bring extensive experience with the primary applications we use: Microsoft Office (emphasis on Word and Powerpoint), the Adobe Creative Suite, and WordPress. Experience with other software and webware applications is a plus. The focus of this role will be graphic design, but there will be a significant percentage of work dedicated to supporting and backing up our full-time Web Administrator. Your primary responsibilities include:
Under limited supervision, participate and lead in a broad range of projects with limited/defined scope.
Produce complex illustrations, graphics, images and photos for design assignments.
Develop a variety of communication pieces for print, web, and digital media.
Perform basic graphic design and website updates with advanced scope/complexity.
Use job-required software applications and mediums to develop and design materials and websites according to defined requirements.
Maintain quality control of content, and support design strategy and execution.
May coordinate with multiple clients to develop themes and designs to achieve desired results.
Work with vendors and print shops to evaluate quality and process, obtain quotes, and select a vendor/printer.
Develop and maintain knowledge of industry standards, trends and state-of-the-art technology to provide and enhance services.
Demonstrated understanding of graphic design and website administration principles
May provide guidance to other staff or contractors.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Demonstrated understanding of graphic design and web administration principles.
Ability to work around an initial concept and think in terms of broader solutions.
Demonstrated experience and understanding of job-required software applications and mediums, including browser usability and cross platform compatibility.
Ability to present a portfolio that reflects creative work.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and faculty/staff needs.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
Ability to perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team.
