Development Writer II in the Office of Development

We are looking for a Development Writer II who will support our Office of Development as part of a strong tenured team consisting of a lead, four writers, and a project manager. This role will be responsible for conceptualizing, writing, and editing content that supports the department’s efforts to raise funds and steward donors. Writing projects may include proposals and annual giving solicitations, stewardship pieces, alumni engagement projects, web content, donor and patient stories, and social media content.
The Development Writer II must have strong story development and emotive writing skills, including knowledge of interview techniques. This person must also have the ability to research and write compelling cases for support for solicitations that inspire donors to connect with our university and make a gift. Successful candidates should also have superior time management skills and experience managing multiple deadlines.

This full-time position that is classified as salaried and exempt based at our University Center Tower location in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. You will be eligible for all UTHealth benefits including health care coverage and participation in a pension plan administered by the State of Texas.
Exceptional interviewing, writing, editing, fact-checking and proofreading skills.
Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously and to produce polished content under tight deadlines.
Strong portfolio of writing that is clear, accurate, and compelling.
Ability to interview faculty, patients, students, and donors across a wide range of disciplines and present complex concepts in clear and lively prose for diverse donor audiences.
Ability to write in a voice appropriate to the varied audiences addressed and to write to the style of key individuals.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others on a team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign/Acrobat (strongly preferred).
