This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Public Information Representative position for the College of Liberal Arts at Oregon State University (OSU).
This position serves as a visual lead for communications and marketing efforts across the College of Liberal Arts (CLA). This role helps oversee the development and execution of cohesive communications across the college through close collaboration with CLA's communications and marketing team. Working directly with CLA's marketing and communications team, this position supports overarching strategic communications goals and aligns with efforts across the college. Further, this role serves as the liaison for the School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts, School of Communication, School of Language, Culture and Society and School of Writing, Literature and Film, working to incorporate and reflect the individual strengths and personality of each school into visual language and communications.
As a creative visual designer for the college, this position ensures visual consistency across the college and alignment between the schools, college and the university. Beyond design, this position helps set a distinctive style for the photography assets, manages video documentation of events and upholds the integrity of the visual brand elements across print and digital communications and marketing efforts.
Three years of experience as a public relations representative for an organization which involved gathering information, writing and/or producing materials, presenting information to the public, handling public relations, preparing press releases, and interaction with the news media. At least one year of this experience must have involved participating in planning and administering an organization's public relations program. A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a closely-related field may substitute for up to two years of the general experience but will not substitute for the one year of specialized experience.
Knowledge of graphic design principles; experience designing and creating posters, flyers, and other print media using Adobe Creative Suite or similar software.
Strong writing and editing skills, and excellent verbal communication skills; experience in marketing and public relations; ability to meet firm timelines for project completion; and an ability to interact effectively with the public.
On occasion, may need to attend lectures, concerts, and miscellaneous events that occur during evening hours and on weekends. Some travel may be required.
