The Director of Digital Strategy and Services leads an integrated team of communications strategists and service professionals that support and manage the university's digital and web presence, content management infrastructure, client relations, training, and support resources. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Communications, the Director is a senior leader in Marketing, Communications, and External Relations and is an integral member of the team responsible for advancing the university's communications and marketing strategies and priorities. Leads the creation and development of the university's digital communications and marketing strategies, interpreting key consumer insights and translating those into compelling, memorable, and distinctive digital experiences that accomplish strategic objectives, and influence the behavior and intended outcomes with target audiences.
Responsible for ongoing development and advancement of tools that support LMU's communications, marketing, and external relations, including, university websites, content management systems, mobile apps suite, calendaring, maps, search engines, analytics programs, quality assurance tools, accessibility tools, and other digital content extensions. Work closely with Information Technology Services to ensure university practices and methodologies are consistently applied to all systems managed. Provision and empower colleges, schools, divisions, and other clients to use LMU's communications tools effectively; educate clients on and enforce appropriate policies, procedures, and best practices; maximize resources and ensure uniformly high standards. Represent the department in interactions with stakeholders, cross-divisional work teams, and university committees. Educate clients regarding best practices and emerging trends. Ensure that the mission, objectives, and goals of the university are reflected.
Manage a team of internal and external professionals. Hire, supervise, and train personnel (including full-time and freelance staff, contracted partners, and student workers) to provide services necessary to carry out business functions and fulfill responsibilities. Lead team members to maximize creativity, productivity, and effectiveness. Create a culture of accountability through evidence-based decision making with individual and team goals in which progress, deadlines, outcomes are measured, assessed, and reported on regularly.
Project manage communications and marketing digital initiatives. Provide planning and project coordination services to strategic projects and initiatives. Establish and adhere to formulas, criteria, and standards throughout project implementation. Conduct focus groups, lead committee meetings, deliver presentations, deploy surveys, present statistical analyses, lead benchmarking exercises, and provide other measurements to support competitive positioning and data-driven decision making.
Responsible for developing and advancing a data-driven culture with analytics reporting, metrics analysis, and progress measurement to goals through key performance indicators.
Manage budgets and assigned contracts. Negotiate contract terms and seek opportunities to optimize resources to accomplish strategic objectives that meet and exceed expectations.
Research and stay abreast of emerging digital media technologies and communications channels. Identify and advocate for opportunities to utilize and enhance digital media projects, improve the digital experience, and better address communications objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested by leadership.

Requisite Qualifications
Typically, a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred. Degrees in computer science, design, marketing, communications, or business management preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to stay abreast of best practices and industry trends.
Minimum 7 years of experience in an institutional or corporate role with a record of management and supervisory experience; ability to work effectively and independently with internal and external constituencies and with professionals of varied disciplines to accomplish tasks and projects.
Proficient in current web technology including HTML, CSS, XML, SQL, MySQL, PHP, and JavaScript, web servers and server-side technology, code versioning technology such as Git, JS libraries and frameworks; Google analytics; search engine optimization, schema; best practices for content marketing, responsive design; usability testing and tools; HTML email tools; content management systems (in particular, Terminal 4 and WordPress); proven ability to generate, analyze, and interpret web metrics to inform strategic decision making; visual design, Adobe Creative Suite, web animation, audio/video; knowledge of best practices for user interface (UI) and user experience (UX).
Expert-level knowledge of communications and content management methodologies.
Demonstrated experience managing and executing across multiple communications and marketing channels and media
Advanced experience with traditional and digital communications functions, channels, and activities. Ability to interpret large amounts of data in a multi-tasked environment.
Possesses exceptional verbal and written communications skills and compelling and impactful presentation abilities. Has the ability to motivate and inspire creative, communications, and public outreach teams as well as colleagues, constituents, leaders, and governance boards.
Experience problem-solving and ideating concepts for communications and content development within the context of an institutional brand, communication, and marketing strategy.
Demonstrated experience managing creative projects and executing across multiple communications and marketing channels and media
Demonstrated ability to work independently and entrepreneurially; experience creating, developing, and implementing new initiatives that impact strategic goals
Evidence of an energetic, flexible, and creative leadership style that produces high quality deliverables with meticulous attention to detail. Must be metrics-driven and results-oriented manager with excellent analytical skills. Ability to provide quick turnaround and updates for multiple requests while maintaining high quality work.
Must be able to perform successfully in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, and service-oriented environment. Significant experience leading successful outcomes and navigating political dynamics within a complex organization. Willing and able to adjust to changing demands and shifting priorities.
Excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
