What you'll do:
- Support the preparation and submission of grant and contract proposals.
- Assist volunteers and staff in conducting funding searches using external databases and other sources of information and disseminate funding opportunities to interested parties. Advise volunteers and staff in the development of externally-funded grant proposals by providing program development and budget development assistance via face-to-face meetings, virtual meetings, email or via phone.
- Provide technical writing and editing assistance and complex budget preparation.
- Assist investigators by preparing standard proposal forms required by the sponsor and funding opportunity notice.
- Gather, prepare and review required proposal documents for compliance with sponsor guidelines, funding notices and federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies, including, but not limited to, those for conflict of interest, federal export controls, involvement in human subject research and use of animals in research. Submit timely and compliant proposals in accordance with policy.
- Support the administration of externally-funded grants and contracts. Review contracts and funding agreement documents for acceptability and assist in award negotiations and routing for approval.
- Complete financial reports and invoices as required by external agencies.
- Provide technical advice and services to project directors and their staff regarding grant/contract problems and/or questions.
- Review policies and interpret Federal, State and other agency regulations.
- Assist project directors in maintaining budgets and closing out awards. Monitor the financial status of the grants. Review all grant expenditures for allowability, allocability and reasonableness with the grant budget, terms and conditions as well at State and Federal guidelines.
- Provide liaison assistance between parties at the association and sponsoring agency personnel.
- Provide assistance for all questions relating to both budget and program.
- Prepare, review and process supplemental pay and lump-sum requests for sponsored projects. Assist internal, federal, state and other external auditors, as well as Business Services personnel, with regards to grant and contract audits.
- Assist in managing the time and effort reporting system.
What you'll need:
- Three years prior experience as a scientific/technical writer, preferably in the medical field. Grant writing and administration experience desirable.
- Strong breadth of scientific interest, the ability to think critically about a wide range of scientific issues.
- Good understanding of scientific and statistical terminology and methods.
- Prior experience in an imaging science field highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of subject matter team.
