We are currently seeking a Human Factors Researcher to support the Health Business Unit -Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) group. This position is located in Columbus, OH, but will consider remote locations.
Performs Human Factors research and testing, designs and develops tools, experiments, systems and environments. Specific domain and industry areas include but are not limited to healthcare quality improvement and patient-centric healthcare delivery, emergency preparedness, environmental and population health, and emerging technologies in healthcare. Additionally, this role will have elements of UX/UI design including website design, dashboard development, conducting user acceptance testing, assisting in system requirements gathering, and graphic design.
Performs complex assignments related to the design and development of tools, systems and environments for increased efficiency and operating performance. Lead and/or conduct research and development activities for experiments and projects.
May provide direction to and coordinate the efforts of health and public health scientists and support staff in the performance of assigned projects within time and budget constraints.
Support software development activities by applying Human Centric Design principals to design experiences that effectively align with the physical, cognitive and emotional needs of users.
Support team members by assisting in user research efforts, including contextual inquiry, in-depth interviews, user-centered analysis and usability testing.
Assist in the analysis of user data to identify user requirements, opportunity areas for future development, personas/user types, usability issues, and more.
Assist in creating research reports that communicate research findings to internal and external stakeholders, including clients, program managers, and development leads.
Use system, manufacturing and product requirements, user research findings, and regulatory requirements to create and refine UI architecture/wireframes and visual design of digital solutions.
Develop and maintain detailed style guides, asset libraries and design patterns.
Be involved throughout the entire design process, from front end user research, creating wireframes, to implementation.
Translate complex ideas and requirements into intuitive visual solutions, provides technical content for reports, and able to present internally and externally to clients.
Troubleshoots processes when expected results are not obtained.
Supports multiple healthcare projects, executes technical tasks, communicates with client with regards to the schedule and quality of deliverables.
Assists with business development and proposal efforts. Contributes to small to mid-size proposals (<500K). Partners with other staff to develop mid- to large-size proposals (500K+).
Builds relationships with internal and external clients for business development and project execution.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Factors, Psychology, or other related discipline with 2 years of experience in the Healthcare Industry or Master’s Degree in Human Factors, Psychology, or Healthcare Innovation related discipline with preferred 1 year of experience in the Healthcare Industry; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in the Healthcare Industry.
Strong understanding and experience in the areas of healthcare, public health and human factors, data visualization, UX design, design and conduct of user tests, data collection for health-related human factors studies.
Must be a self-starter, be able to take on multiple assignments, manage and prioritize work time to balance customer and business needs, and ability to work with both government and commercial clients.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to a wide range audience.
