Daikin Applied is now hiring for a Technical Writer!
As a core team member of Daikin Applied Technical Writing Center of Excellence (COE), this individual will be responsible authoring technical content. Technical content is developed through research and analysis of engineering documents and consultation with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization. This role requires a high level of technical aptitude and the ability to turn technical concepts into clear and concise documentation such as installation, maintenance and operating manuals, product catalogs, and other technical documentation as needed.
Location: Plymouth, MN. Remote applicants considered within the U.S.

What you will do:
Research technical data and develop procedures through interviews, on-site visits and production observations.
Organize and research available data, write technical manuscripts from the data including procedures and parts lists.
Determine illustration needs and recommend content to illustrators.
Assist in proofing and editing technical publications of other writers for conformance to style and format.
Meet with other writers to determine project assignments and report project status.
Schedule and conduct review meetings for approval of new or revised publications before final version is released.
Assist in the development and revision of style guides that meet the specific needs of Company products.
Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
Comply with all Company and HSE policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Must have:
Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, technical communication, or professional writing
At least 5 years of technical writing experience
Proficiency with authoring and desktop publishing tools, specifically MS Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop).
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, including Outlook, Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint
Experience gathering and assessing technical documentation to create and update user documentation in compliance with engineering technical input, best practices, and department standards.
Experience translating highly technical concepts into understandable content for the end user.
Ability to travel >10%
