Position Summary
The Program Coordinator for the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) is critical to the mission of the CTE to transform teaching through mentoring, innovative practices, collaboration, scholarship, and advocacy, as well as Rice's ongoing efforts to expand diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in the classroom. The Program Coordinator is responsible for the administration of all CTE-related programs and functions, including planning and coordinating events, recommending and implementing outreach and communications, managing short and long term budgets, collecting and analyzing data, developing reports, managing calendars and program timelines, arranging meetings, and human resources support. The coordinator provides support to the Director, staff, and faculty fellows of the CTE.
Ideal candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organizational skills, budget/financial experience, and work well in a collaborative environment.
The Program Coordinator reports directly to the CTE Director. The job is hiring at $45,000-$47,500.
Essential Functions
- Administers the daily operations of the CTE with general guidance of the Director
- Conducts research, analyzes data, identifies trends and develops reports
- Plans and monitors annual budgets, assists in the development of longer terms budget plans
- Recommends and implements outreach plans, including communications, events, marketing, conferences, etc.
- Plans and coordinates logistical aspects of all CTE events
- For academic programs, may assist with graduate student recruitment and admissions, student records, curriculum support, coordinating the accreditation process, managing scholarships and fellowships, and monitoring student progress
- Provides support to faculty, staff and students as related to the CTE
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions / Information
- Manages website including event advertising, registration, and CTE web-based resources
- Conducts data input and database management
- Coordinates with other campus offices and units for events, programs, and services (i.e. President's Office, Provost's Office, Office of Faculty Development, etc)
- Schedules graduate and undergraduate courses offered by the CTE
- Manages the CTE office space, which includes scheduling events held in the space
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1 year work experience - Related program or administrative experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite or equivalent (word processing, slides, spreadsheets)
- Ability to learn new strategies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work well under time pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules
- Attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education and coordinating events
- Understanding of the teaching and learning environment in higher education
- Familiarity with Oracle/iO
- Proven experience in editing, visual design, and promotional writing
- Ability to perform tasks without direct supervision
- Data analysis skills
