Job Description: We are seeking an experienced principal technical writer with a passion for writing and technology. You not only possess the ability to create accurate, well-structured, and clear documentation, but you are also self-driven, able to independently deliver projects under specific deadlines within a fast-paced software organization. You are responsible for writing and maintaining documentation and help content for multiple software products developed by our company. You provide the vision for what high-quality, customer-centered documentation looks like, and you will collaborate with product and development teams to create compelling content.
Responsibilities:
Write and maintain user guides, manuals, release notes, and online help systems for multiple software products
Write and maintain technical documentation around API/SDK
Create and maintain documentation templates, style guides, and standards
Oversee the translation and localization of help systems/documentation into different languages
Work closely with product managers, developers, and QA teams to gather product information and ensure accuracy of documentation
Collaborate with UX designers to ensure consistency and usability of documentation
Manage documentation projects, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress
Continuously review and improve documentation based on feedback from users and stakeholders
Lead the way in technical writing innovation and deploying new strategies for showcasing and disseminating documentation to our customers
Manage and maintain documentation sources in source control
Publish/release help systems and documentation through continuous delivery pipelines
Participate in product testing and provide feedback on user experience and functionality
Train and mentor junior technical writers
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in technical writing, Communications, English, Journalism, computer science, or related field
Demonstrated ability to write well-crafted, easy-to-consume documentation
5+ years of technical writing and copy-editing experience
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, as well as exceptional attention to detail
Strong understanding of technical writing principles, standards, styles, and best practices
Deep experience with documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe RoboHelp, FrameMaker
Strong project management skills, and experience with project management tools (Azure Devops, JIRA, etc.)
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability and experience in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define documentation infrastructure, formats, and best practices
Experience with source control for documentation and publishing help systems through CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with software development methodologies, tools, and concepts
Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus

For work locations in the state of Colorado, the anticipated minimum base salary for this role would be $50,000 - $90,000. Compensation will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the applicant.
