Northeastern's Marketing department is looking for a highly collaborative and talented Senior UX/UI Designer to join our team and push our digital experiences forward. As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you take an active role in the discovery, concepting, and implementation of user experiences across university digital assets, serving a spectrum of audience segments. You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary team members and university stakeholders to create optimized, cross-platform user-centered experiences.
We're looking for the complete UX package with an emphasis on intuitive experiences and sophisticated visual design skills. The position is based on the Boston campus with the option of one remote day per week.
The Senior UI/UX Designer works with the broader digital experience team and university stakeholders to marry user needs with business objectives seamlessly. The Senior UI/UX designer is responsible for developing an optimized and cohesive user experience while defining digital design brand standards. As such, this role must consider how each design decision not only solves the immediate design challenge but also scales to the brand digital design system.
This Senior UX/UI Designer drives the entire design process from information architecture through its completion by presenting to stakeholders and working with developers to ensure accurate implementation. As Senior UX/UI Designer the role will oversee and be responsible for the work product and mentorship of more junior designers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years' experience in UX/UI design, interaction design, information architecture, or other related disciplines - key visual UI design eye a must
Someone who is curious and can keep us ahead of the curve.
Ability to solve complex interactions and demonstrate a high level of critical thinking skills
Well-versed in Design Thinking principles and cross-platform design best practices
A comprehensive portfolio that demonstrates intuitive and compelling designs
Self-starter with a track record of delivering quality work under deadlines
Ability to juggle multiple projects
Extraordinary attention to detail and craftsmanship
Pride in your work, but not tied to ego
A sense of humor
A natural collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills
Bachelor's Degree
Experience in higher education is not needed, nor is it desired
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Discovery
Before any work starts, the UX/UI designer will develop a full understanding of what is necessary for the project. This will include, but not limited to, understanding current architecture, stakeholder interviews, new content and functionality understanding and development, and more.
Understand the greater needs of the University and its diverse set of audience segments
Develop site maps and, along with content-focused co-workers, develop content outlines
Relentless problem solving

Wireframe prototypes (using Figma)
Design intuitive and compelling interfaces optimized across devices
Maintain and extend Northeastern's brand identity system (design system)
Contribute to the establishment of the University-wide visual system
Collaboration
Present to key stakeholders
Work with developers, content stakeholders, copywriters, photographers, project managers, marketing managers and more to establish what is needed for a successful web launch
