UCSF's Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is hiring a Program Coordinator to support implementation of initiatives in the Community Engagement and Research Action Group for Equity (RAGE) programs. Under the direction of the Associate Directors, the Program Coordinator will provide high-level project and administrative support to the programs and is responsible for implementing existing initiatives and developing new projects to support community engagement and diverse recruitment across the University. The Program Coordinator serves as the key contact for the programs, and a key liaison to the community.
Existing program activities include: nurturing existing ties to local community-based organizations and developing new relationships; generating community-based consultation requests on research topics, coordinating and leading consultations with UCSF researchers and community partners to infuse all phases of the research enterprise with community perspectives; implementing an evaluation protocol for consultations to measure the satisfaction with the process for both the researchers and the community partners; curating a searchable, web-based database of community-engaged research resources and best practices, and; coordinating a cohort of part-time Navigators to provide help ensure that participation in research is accessible and appealing to and diverse populations.
The Community Engagement and RAGE programs work together to ensure robust, mutually-beneficial linkages between the UCSF researchers and the broader community to ensure the research enterprise is addressing health equity and working towards health and well-being for all, with a particular focus on the historically-excluded Latinx, Chinese, and Black populations in the San Francisco Bay Area. The programs also work with the CTSI Community Advisory Board. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex and technical information in a clear and concise manner for multiple audiences, and, preferably in multiple languages. Web design (Drupal) and/or other visual design skills are also highly valuable in this position.
Most importantly, he/she/they will have strong existing ties to the local community and the willingness and ability to nurture and build those ties by attending community events, meeting with community elders and leaders, and demonstrating effective interpersonal and collaborative skills to build strong working relationships with partners and leaders at all levels across the university. Because this is a central competency of the position, lived experience and existing ties to the Latinx and Black communities in the Bay Area, and/or Spanish or Mardarin/Cantonese language fluency is strongly preferred.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $116,700 (Annual Rate).
