The Stanford Department of Radiology is seeking a technical writer to advance the publication efforts of the Department's clinical artificial intelligence (AI) program including but not limited to write, review, revise and standardize technical materials, such as manuals, appendices, or instructions. Oversee, edit and review the work of others. The program is expected to rapidly expand over the next few years; publications and communication will constitute a key strategic effort for the program.

Duties include:

  • The individual should have experience in technical writing of peer-reviewed manuscripts, preferably in radiology. The individual's skills should be versatile. The individual should have the ability to quickly become familiar with a complex topic, identify the most salient points of the project, and clearly and logically articulate them in a manuscript that is suitable for the audience
  • Interview subject matter experts, review industry/peer material, and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
  • Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or subject matter experts.
  • Write or edit technical publications that may require the creation of sensitive material with significant public relations or policy impact.
  • Serve as a resource to help end users and staff evaluate and integrate useful computing tools.
  • Develop approaches and solutions for problem definition and resolution by acting as the project supervisor.
  • Define and implement procedures and policies for the work group.
  • Plan staffing requirements as needed.
  • The individual should be able to work independently, quickly understanding the team's needs and objectives, develop an effective plan, and iteratively create a work product with successive feedback.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Excellent writing and grammar skills in addition to relevant technical knowledge.
  • Excellent working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Excellent working knowledge of content management systems such as Drupal.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office and Adobe creative suite of applications.
  • Ability to plan effectively and to manage/supervise projects and work queues.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, writing by hand.
  • Rarely use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Requires good visual acuity.
